Comments for the Week of April 29-May 3
  • Biggest winner this week: Lori Saenz ($63,209) (April 29)
  • Pricing Game winning or losing streaks snapped:
    • A 7 game winning streak for Bonus Game, dating back to February 24, 2012 was snapped
    • That's Too Much snapped a 9 game losing streak dating back to December 5, 2012
    • Check-Out snapped a 5 game losing streak dating back to May 24, 2012
  • With the Bonus Game loss, every Pricing Game has now been lost at least once this season. Last time a Pricing Game went an entire season without being lost: Season 37 by both Bullseye (6-0) and Shell Game (3-0)
  • With the Check-Out win, Stack the Deck (0-8) and Triple Play (0-1) are now the only Pricing Games where absolutely nothing has been won this season.
  • On Monday, Squeeze Play was played a $9,998 barbecue island, which is almost certainly the most expensive four digit prize ever offered in this game. (The previous high was a $9,992 hot tub offered on October 10, 2011). Would they ever dare play Squeeze Play for a $9,999 prize?
  • Squeeze Play has now been lost five straight times when played for a Summerset Outdoor Living barbecue island.
  • On Tuesday, Shopping Spree was played for the 200th time in daytime history. Since it premiered, Shopping Spreehas been the most frequently played four prize game, ahead of Race Game (197), Swap Meet (155) and Danger Price (151).
  • Also on Tuesday, Pathfinder was played for the 20th time this season. Last time it was played over 20 times in one season: Season 24 (22 playings).
  • Average number of playings Pathfinder received between Seasons 31 and 40: 11.2
  • So far this season, the $10,000 has been placed in every single box in 1/2 Off, with the exception of boxes #6, #10 and #13. It is somewhat unusual that box #6 has remained empty. Box #6 is currently tied for third for the most all-time $10,000 placements, with 15. (Box #4 is the most frequent, with 20 placements.)
  • The two bargains in Tuesday's playing of Bargain Game were $2,000 and $500. That's the largest gap between both bargains ($1,500) since the December 1, 2003 playing, when there was a $2,000 gap ($5,000 and $3,000).
  • Wednesday's Showcase winner, Debra, won $22,951 in cash and prizes. That's the smallest total amongst all Showcase winners so far this season. However, it should be noted that eight Showcase winners won less than this amount in Season 40.
  • On Thursday, 1 Right Price was played third, becoming the nineteenth Pricing Game to be played in all six slots at least once this season. (Joining Push Over, 1 Wrong Price, Coming or Going, Switch?, Flip Flop, Freeze Frame, Plinko, It's in the Bag, Temptation, Squeeze Play, Cliff Hangers, Shopping Spree, One Away, Most Expen$ive, Any Number, That's Too Much!, Most Expen$ive and Grand Game).
  • Thursday's Plinko playing was the 500th time a Pricing Game was not fully won this season. (If you do not consider $10,000+ wins in Plinko as a win, then the 500th loss was Tuesday's It's in the Bag playing.)
  • On Friday, Erin passed on $4,000 and used her last roll in Let 'em Roll. Since Season 32, the record for the most money not taken when a contestant had one roll remaining is $4,500 from the November 12, 2010 episode.
  • Out of the 72 Pricing Games currently in the rotation, only 8 did not exist when Carter was born (Friday's Secret "X" contestant) : Pocket ¢hange, Balance Game, Stack the Deck, More or Less, Gas Money, Rat Race, Pay the Rent and Double Cross.
  • The Big Wheel has been ice cold lately. Since the $26,000 win on March 14 (31 episodes ago), there have only been 6 $1,000 winners.
Comments for the Week of May 6-10
  • Biggest winner this week: Nolan Hunt ($51,924) (May 7)
  • On Monday, Peggy won an Ashley bedroom in Coming or Going. That snapped a streak of three playings where Coming or Going was lost when it was played for Ashley furniture. (In all three of those playings, the contestant overpriced the prize package.)
  • Three cars were won on Tuesday's episode. That's only happened four other times this season: October 10, February 14, February 19 and February 27.
(No episode this season has awarded more than 3 cars.)
  • On Tuesday, Master Key snapped an 8 game losing streak dating back to January 25, 2012. It was also the first time since February 21, 2010 where the contestant won by selecting the car key. (All other wins since then had been via the master key.)
  • Out of the 11 Safe Crackers playing this season, 0-5-6 was used as the numbers in the combination 7 times. In all 7 of these playings, 6-5-0 was the correct combination that opened the safe.
  • On Friday, Bullseye was played second for the first time since December 8, 2009 and Magic # was played fifth for the first time since October 15, 2010.
  • Also on Friday, 2 for the Price of 1 was played for a car for the fifth time since Drew began hosting. Who knew? 2 for the Price of 1 has a record of 0-5 in those car playings.
  • Plinko is having a difficult season. At least $10,000 has been won in only 7 out of the 26 playings, and an overall average of $4,761 has been won per playing. If that holds, that will be the lowest winning percentage and average winnings since at least Season 29. (Current lows - 8/24 in Season 36 and $5,273 in Season 39)
  • It was also a frustrating week for the first four contestants called at the start of the episodes - a season high 7 first four contestants failed to win their way up on stage.
  • Thursday was the 150th episode of the season. In comparison to last season:
    • Pricing Games on pace to have a significant increase in play: One Away (+14), Pathfinder (+13), Coming or Going (+11), Grand Game/Cliff Hangers (+9)
    • Pricing Games on pace to have a significant decrease in play: That's Too Much! (-15), Pick-a-Number/Range Game (-11), Bonus Game (-10), Bonkers/
      1 Right Price (-9)
    • Cliff Hangers, Clock Game, Coming or Going, Five Price Tags, Grand Game, It's in the Bag, Magic #, Master Key, One Away, Pathfinder, Safe Crackers,
Side by Side, 10 Chances and 3 Strikes have already received more playings this season than they did in all of last season.
    • Plinko is on pace to be played more often this season than last season, even though Plinko was played five times in one week in Season 40.
    • Dice Game was played 7 times in the first 50 episodes but only 3 times since then.

Comments for the Week of May 13-17
  • Biggest winner this week: Sheryl Young Graham ($37,867) (May 15)
  • On Monday, Flip Flop became the first Pricing Game to be played 30 times this season. At this pace, Flip Flop will easily surpass the 34 playings it received last season (currently the most times Flip Flop has been played in one season).
  • Flip Flop also became the third Pricing Game to be won twenty times this season (joining Cliff Hangers and Push Over).
  • Switch? (18 wins) and Bargain Game (17 wins) also appear poised to join the 20 win club. That would be quite the feat - no season since Season 29 has had more than three Pricing Games won more than 20 times. And, since Season 37, Switch? has been the only game to be won at least 20 times in one season.
  • Two Pricing Games were played for trips on Tuesday's episode (Bonkers and Coming or Going). That was the ninth two trip day of the season.
  • So far this season, Bonkers is 0-3 when contestants have to go with the odds for all four numbers (ie: guess higher if the number is 2, lower if the number is 7...), but is 4-0 otherwise.
  • A $65 steam iron was offered on Tuesday's Spelling Bee, which is almost certainly the most expensive small prize ever offered in this game. (Since at least Season 32, no small prize has exceeded $50 in value.) In addition, Tracey underbid on the iron by $45, which is the largest miss in this game since April 9, 2007
    (a $129 bid on a $40 cereal dispenser.)
  • It has now been 19 playings (since November 15, 2011) since a contestant got both grocery product pairings right in Pass the Buck. During this span, contestants have failed to win an additional pick 14 times and have won the car only three times.
  • On Thursday, Safe Crackers was played first for the first time since December 8, 2010.
  • Also on Thursday, David incorrectly placed two grocery products on the "Hi" row in Hi Lo. Last time that happened: November 10, 2008. (Only one grocery product was incorrectly placed in all other losses since that date).
  • For the first time this season, absolutely nothing was won in Race Game (previous Race Game wipeout: May 29 of last season).
  • Adam won $36,899 in cash and prizes on Friday's episode, which is the biggest non-Showcase win since the Season 40 premiere (the four car Race Game win).
  • Adam also became the seventh $26,000 winner in the Showcase Showdowns this season. Seven is the most $11,000/$26,000 Showcase Showdown wins we've had in one season since Season 32 (8).
  • Friday's Pocket ¢hange was the 400th Pricing Game win of the season (if you consider Plinko won when contestants win at least $10,000).
  • The overall Pricing Game winning percentage so far this season is 42.95% (402-534), which is significantly higher than the results in the previous four seasons (39.3% in Season 40, 34.9% in Season 39, 36.4% in Season 38, 40.1% in Season 37).
Comments for the Week of May 20-24
  • Biggest winner this week: William Curtis ($41,848) (May 21)
  • Pricing Game winning/losing streaks snapped:
    • Plinko - at least $10,000 was won for the first time since March 26 (6 playings ago)
    • Cliff Hangers was lost for the first time since January 10, 2013 (10 playings ago, or 12 playings based on actual airdates)
    • Clock Game was lost for the first time since February 5, 2013 (11 playings ago, or 6 playings based on actual airdates)
  • On Monday, Five Price Tags was played second, becoming the twentieth game to be played in all six slots at least once this season. (Joining Push Over,
1 Wrong Price, Coming or Going, Switch?, Flip Flop, Freeze Frame, Plinko, It's in the Bag, Temptation, Squeeze Play, Cliff Hangers, Shopping Spree, One Away, Most Expen$ive, Any Number, That's Too Much!, Most Expen$ive, Grand Game and 1 Right Price). Five Price Tags last achieved this mark in Season 36.
  • Prior to Monday's playing, the last time a conetstant failed to win a pick in Five Price Tags was April 20, 2011. Since Season 29, there have been six wipeouts in Five Price Tags.
  • Also on Monday, Squeeze Play became the first Pricing Game to be fully lost 20 times this season. (While Grand Game, It's in the Bag and Plinko also have 20 losses, some of those losses were partial wins). While 20 losses is alot, it doesn't pale in comparison to the 26 and 29 losses racked up by Cover Up and That's Too Much, respectively, in Season 40.
  • Squeeze Play also has been lost 8 straight times when played for a five digit prize, including all seven five-digit playings this season. The last $10,000+ prize won in Squeeze Play was a Chevrolet Colorado on May 1, 2012.
  • Freeze Frame is currently riding a six game winning streak. A trip to New York City was won in three of those wins.
  • Three one prize quickie games were played on Monday (Freeze Frame, Squeeze Play, Balance Game). That's happened only one other time this season - on January 11. (Bonkers, Balance Game, Push Over)
  • Conversely, a one prize game was not played on either Thursday's or Friday's episode. There have only been four other episodes this season without at least one 1 prize game played.
  • On Tuesday's playing of That's Too Much!, Bolanle had to stop at the eighth price in order to win the car. That was the first time this season the stopping point was placed so far down the line. In all of the other 16 playings, the stopping point was placed no further than the fifth price.
  • Alissa won a $20,624 Showcase on Wednesday. That's the cheapest Showcase won all season. As a result, Alissa has won the least amongst all Showcase winners so far this season.
(April 19, 2012 was the last time a contestant won a Showcase worth less than $20,000 while October 12, 2012 was the last time a Showcase was worth less $20,000.)
  • Prior to Friday's playing, the last time Cliff Hangers was lost by $1 was April 14, 2011. (In fact, it happened twice in Season 39.)
  • Line em Up was the only Pricing Game played for a car that was won this week. Line em Up has now prevented a car game skunking three times this season.
  • Shell Game (4 playings) has been played more times than Bonus Game (3 playings) so far this season. If that trend continues, it will be the first time since Season 26 where Shell Game was played more often.
Comments for the Week of May 27-31
  • Biggest winner this week: Joseph Cody ($41,670) (May 30)
  • On Wednesday, Jennifer won a $19,559 Showcase - the cheapest Showcase won this season and the cheapest won since April 25, 2011 ($18,712).
  • Both Showcases on Wednesday's episode also totalled $40,935 - the chepaest sum so far this season and the lowest since April 19, 2012 ($40,817).
  • Coming or Going was played for the 30th time this season on Wednesday. That's already the most playings this game has ever received in one season (previous high: 28 in Seasons 32 and 33).
  • So far this season, whenever 0 or 5 is presented as a choice for the fifth digit in Cover Up, the 0 or the 5 turned out to be the fifth number in the price of a car (ie: 0 or 5 has never been presented as a fake). Overall, Cover Up is 1-6 this season when the car ended in 0 or 5.
  • There was a $3,596 spread between both prizes in Thursday's playing of Magic # - almost surely the largest spread in the game's history (Previous high: $3,171 on March 20, 2012).
  • This was the fifth time Magic # has had a spread of at least $2,700. Not surprisingly, Magic # has a perfect record of 5-0 in these playings.
  • Side by Side was played for the 25th time this season on Thursday. That's already the most playings this game has ever received in one season (previous high: 24 in Season 25).
  • $11,000 was won in Thursday's second Showcase Showdown, bringing the total Big Wheel winnings above $300,000 on the season. The show is on pace to give away $357,000 in the Showcase Showdowns this season, which is ahead of last season's result ($273,000) but would be behind Season 39 ($367,000).
  • On Friday, Tamara was persistent and tried three times to get the Big Wheel all the way around at least once. That's the first time that's happened since at least Season 29. (No contestant during that span has been "booed" more than twice.)
  • At 6-21 (22.22%), Squeeze Play by far has the worst record amongst all one prize quickie games this season. With the exception of Freeze Frame (10-15, 40%), all of the other games have at least .500 records. Double Prices (13-4, 76.5%) and Push Over (22-7, 75.9%) have the most impressive records. Overall, the one prize games have been won 55.7% of the time this season.
  • The two "then" products in Friday's playing of Now....or Then were the Little Debbie oatmeal cream pies and the Airborne cold remedy. Back in episodes that actually aired in January 2003, the $1.39 cream pies were used twice (January 2 and January 24) while the $6.99 cold remedy did not make an appearance (but it was used on some episodes that aired in December 2002 and February 2003. Close enough?).
Comments for the Week of June 3-7
  • Biggest winner this week: Nelson Helland ($35,218) (June 4)

    • Squeeze Play was won for the first time in 6 playings. Squeeze Play had last been won on April 11, 2013.
  • For the second time this season, all 10 Pricing Games played for a car were lost this week. (It also happened the week of December 10-14). Overall, we are currently on a 15 car game losing streak - the last car game won was Money Game on May 29.
  • On Monday, Denise's incorrect guess in Freeze Frame ($4,888) was $560 away from the actual price of the prize ($5,448). That's the smallest miss in this game since April 20, 2011 ($526).

  • Between seasons 33 and 40, contestants won at least $10,000 in Plinko 55% (39/71) of the time when they had all five Plinko chips. This season, contestants are 0-4 when they win all five chips (only $3,500, $1,500, $2,500 and $600 was won in those playings).
  • The $600 won on Monday's Plinko was the lowest amount won by a contestant with all five Plinko chips since June 14, 2006 ($500).
  • On Tuesday, Nelson became the first contestant this season to win a one bid with a $420 bid (out of a total of 14 $420 bids). Way to go?
  • For the first time this season in Cover Up, the highest number in the fifth row turned out to be the fifth digit in the price of the car. It was also the first time a 5 and a 0 were presented as a choice for the fifth digit, and neither turned out to be right.
  • On Wednesday, Bethany failed to get any prizes right in both of her tries in Switcheroo. Last time that happened: October 4, 2011. Overall, it has happened 7 times since Season 32.

  • On Friday, Cliff Hangers was won for the 24th time this season. Since Season 29, no Pricing Game has been won more than 24 times in one season (Switch? went 24-8 in Season 30 and Barker's Bargain Bar went 24-7 in Season 31). Can Cliff Hangers pick up at least one more win the final 20 episodes of the season to establish a new mark for this time span?
  • Both Temptation (0/11 car wins) and Stack the Deck (0/10 car wins) have been shut out so far this season. To make matters worse, few contestants have come close to winning: only one contestant had only one number wrong in Temptation and 9/10 contestants had at least three numbers wrong in Stack the Deck.

  • On Wednesday, Cliff Hangers was won for the 25th time this season. This sets a new mark for the past decade - since at least Season 29, no other Pricing Game has been won more than 24 times in one season.
  • With a current record of 25-2 (92.59%), Cliff Hangers is having an incredible season. Since Season 29, the only other Pricing Games played at least 20 times with a similar winning percentage is Pick-a-Pair (18-2 = 90%) in Season 34, followed well behind by Barker's Bargain Game (24-7 = 77.42%) in Season 31.

Comments for the Week of June 17-21
  • Biggest winner this week: Virginia Goodfellow ($63,489). Virginia is the seventh biggest winner so far this season.

  • For the first time season, Money Game was lost when the contestant got the first two numbers right on their first try. Prior to this week, Money Game had a 10-0 record this season under these conditions.
  • Also on Monday, Coming or Going was won for the 20th time this season. That ties Season 33 (20-8) for the most wins for this game in one season. Can it pick up at least one more win in the final 10 episodes of this season to set a new mark?
  • That's Too Much snapped a five game losing streak on Monday's episode. Before this win, the game had last been won on April 29.
  • Thanks to their $47,017 win in Cliff Hangers (which is obviously the most expensive prize ever offered in this game), Hawken & Ari became the largest non-Showcase winners so far this season ($47,656) and the largest winners since the four car win in Race Game on the Season 40 premiere.
  • Five out of the six Pricing Games played on Monday's episode offered a prize package in excess of $18,000. (Coming or Going was the lone exception). In fact, if there had been a perfect show, the car game winners would have ended up spinning first (before the Switch? and Pay the Rent winners) and second (before the Cliff Hangers winner) in the first and second Showcase Showdowns, respectively.
  • $107,321 in cash and prizes were won on Monday's episode, even though the episode ended with a double overbid. Last time the daily winnings exceeded $100,000 when there was a double overbid: January 17, 2002 ($122,188 - due to a Golden Road win).

  • Check Game has now been lost two straight times - it was last won nearly five years ago on April 21, 2009. What's worse, that's not even the longest drought amongst all Pricing Games - it has been even longer since Golden Road (2007), Triple Play (2007) and Punch a Bunch (2008) were last fully won.
  • The $680 luggage on Thursday's Magic # is the cheapest prize offered in this game since at least Season 29.
  • Both prizes on Thursday's Magic # also totalled $3,196 - the smallest prize package since May 11, 2007 ($3,153).
  • Out of the 9 contestants that appeared on Thursday's episode, 8 had a first name containing either four or five letters (Brett, Juan, Linda, Melba, Rita, Lisa, Tyron, Julie). Denetrius was the only contestant that did not have a short name.
  • So far this season, there have been 461 Pricing Game wins (452 if you exclude $10,000+ Plinko wins). That's already more than the total wins in all of
    Season 40 (450), Season 39 (398), Season 38 (415) and Season 37 (460).

  • James won $21,601 on the June 28 episode, which is the lowest total amongst all Showcase winners this season.
  • The yellow rat won the July 4th Rat Race, which was its first win of the season. That leaves the green rat as the only winless rat this season.
  • Small prize games have been fully won 58 times this season. 28 of these wins (48.2%) are Cliff Hangers playings. (The next best game is 1/2 Off, with a mere 7 wins.)
  • Overall, Cliff Hangers has been played 30 times this season - the most playings for this game in one season since Season 6.
  • We are currently on pace to have 485 Pricing Game wins this season (189 episodes), which would be more than the 450 wins accumulated last season (191 episodes). Unfortunately, we are also on pace to have 97 car game wins this season, which would actually be less than the 103 car wins in Season 40.
